For Immediate Release Feb 17, 2009
Washington DC - EDGE Publications, Inc. in partnership with Metro Weekly today announced the official launch of EDGEwashington.com, a new online destination with news and entertainment serving the US Capital's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community.
EDGEwashington.com delivers eight major channels of information to its readers, including daily news, arts & entertainment, business & finance, technology & video games, health & fitness, style, weather and travel. Additional channels provide local coverage of nightlife, shopping, lodging, dining, plus a local business directory and calendar of events.
The site joins a family of market-leading online publications currently serving readers in Boston, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, South Florida, Dallas, Chicago, Las Vegas, Fire Island, Providence and Provincetown. The network of portals is connected via a growing social network of over 20,000 individuals.
"We're thrilled to add Washington DC to our network," said EDGE Publisher David Foucher. "Not only is it the political epicenter of the country, but it represents a vibrant new gay and lesbian community with whom we can work to extend our national community - connecting individuals and businesses with news, entertainment and valuable local information."
Metro Weekly, an award-winning news magazine that has served the DC community since 1994, has partnered with EDGE to provide a variety of local stories each week.
"Washington is home to one of the nation's most active GLBT communities," said Sean Bugg, co-publisher of Metro Weekly. "We're excited by the opportunity to bring Metro Weekly's coverage to an even larger audience as a partner with EDGE."
