EDGE Publications Launches Provincetown Gay News and Entertainment Portal
For Immediate Release May 6, 2005
Provincetown, MA - EDGE Publications, Inc. today announced the official launch of EDGEptown.com, the media network's second major online publication.
EDGEptown.com is devoted to providing news and entertainment information for the Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender community of Provincetown and Cape Cod, as well as the many tourists that frequent the destination spot every year from around the globe.
The company's flagship portal, EDGEboston.com, is already the most popular Gay/Lesbian website of any type in New England, registering on the list of the country's top websites according to Amazon.com's Alexa Traffic Rank.
It has a dedicated readership of 24,000 individuals and is growing weekly.
"We're very excited to expand to Provincetown," said David Foucher, EDGE's Publisher. "We're entirely dedicated to becoming a positive economic and informational contributor to the town. Our Boston portal has been received with enthusiasm by a wide community - we are already seeing the same effect on EDGEptown.com; the response both on-line and in-town has been fantastic."
The portal delivers eight channels to its readers, including daily local/national news, weather, arts & entertainment, health & fitness, style, sports and travel. A community channel provides additional local coverage of nightlife, shopping, lodging, dining, events calendar, and more.
"Our readers could plan out their entire vacation in advance," added Foucher. "or they could simply rely on EDGE's experienced coverage to help them spend their time - and money - wisely once they're here."
The publication also produces weekly events in local venues; EDGE has partnered with the largest entertainment complex in Provincetown, The Crown & Anchor, to create "EDGE Saturdays" at the popular WAVE Bar.
Readers who attend the weekly event will be able to surf the publication, enter to win a variety of prizes from the entertainment industry, and learn about the events happening in town during their stay. The night will be produced in conjunction with Video Jockey Tom Yaz, who for three years has built a popular following for his non-stop exotic video show titled "Yaz TV."
"The Crown & Anchor is thrilled to be associated with our new partner EDGE," said proprietor Rick Murray. "We know they'll help make our Saturday Night Yaz TV in the WAVE Bar even more successful."
"We're the hip new player in town," agreed Community Editor Rick Dunn. "Our readers are drawn from the Internet right to our parties, where they meet new people, have a good time, and interact directly with our editors and writers. We're highly involved with our community on the ground."
The new publication is available at http://www.edgeptown.com.
