Amazon Exec Shares Details About 'Transparent' Finale

Thursday Feb 14, 2019

The head of Amazon Studios offered details about the final installment of the queer dramedy "Transparent" Wednesday during the Television Critics Association.

Deadline reports Amazon boss Jennifer Salke didn't offer specifics about "Transparent," like a launch date for what would be the fifth season, but confirmed "Transparent" would end with a musical movie. Salke said creator and showrunner Jill Soloway's finale "does everything you want it to do."

"We signed off on that idea and trusting her to come with something incredible," said Salke with TV co-heads Vernon Sanders and Albert Cheng in attendance. "All three of us sat in the front for a musical run-through. We were crying. It is really special, it's going to be incredible."

She added: "It's not just special because it's wonderfully done, it brings the whole thing full circle."

Salke also said, according to Deadline, the series just wrapped, saying they're "talking about all types of things" to " eventizing" the musical movie.

Of course, the fifth season/movie will not feature its star Jeffrey Tambor, who was ousted from "Transparent" last year after sexual harassment allegations arose. The show will focus on its other characters, played by actors Gaby Hoffmann, Jay Duplass, Amy Landecker and Judith Light.
