Grey's Anatomy: The Complete Sixth Season

Some shows can lose momentum after success. New cast members are added, love interests finally get together and people lose interest or prominent cast members leave the show. This could spell death for a television series but for Grey's Anatomy, it just makes it better. The Complete Sixth Season is available on DVD. It boasts the final end to the much-publicized Katherine Heigl drama, some new faces and one of the most amazing season finales in television history.

The sixth season picks up after last season's heart-wrenching finale. Izzy (Katherine Heigl) is at death's door and George (TR Knight) is wounded beyond recognition. The newly married Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek aka Creamy (Patrick Dempsey) and their friends must come to terms with George's death. The show handles the loss responsibly and with the appropriate amount of care and respect. The season follows the same outlandish cases and has amazing and touching moments.

There are some new additions to the cast. Seattle Grace Hospital must merge with Mercy West causing the introduction of a whole team of new residents. There is also the new head of cardio Dr. Teddy Altman (Kim Raver). The season follows the typical Grey's bedhopping and partner swapping. Dr. Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez) and Dr. Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw) shine as the most well adjusted couple who just so happen to be out lesbians.

This season is amazing. The new characters fit in the season seamlessly. There are also some amazing guest stars including Sarah Gilbert as a patient seeking assisted suicide. It has also grounded some of the more senior characters and given us a chance to get a glimpse at some fresh blood. It also boasts a monumental life-changing season finale. One word....gunman.

The DVD set has some nice bonus features. It has a gag reel, a behind-the-scenes featurette profiling Chandra Wilson and her directorial debut on the show, and some deleted scenes. It also features "Seattle Grace: On Call" which was a webisode series that starred some of the shows minor characters in their own story arcs.

There is no show on television like Grey's Anatomy and this series provides hours of entertainment.
