Kevin Hart - Let Me Explain

Christian Cintron READ TIME: 2 MIN.

"Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain" is the comedian's epic-sized comedy special. Nothing is off-limits in this sold-out appearance at Madison Square Garden with tons of Hart's fans. He doesn't disappoint his fans, but the bonus features and some elements of the film could have been better.

The opening sequence of the film features an improvised cinematic with Hart and his friends at the club. Hart has to deal with all the things people falsely accuse him of saying. He just wants to explain himself. It sounds a lot like just wanting respect (think Rodney Dangerfield). Then, after 15 minutes of crowd interviews and disjointed moments, the special begins on an epic stage.

Ultimately, the comedy is good. It's Hart's energetic storytelling and no-nonsense honesty. He talks about friends, dating and divorce. He does crazy voices and outlandish stories.

The bonus features for the Blu-ray release are a bit lacking. There is the behind the scenes interview segment called, "No No No, Let Us Explain." Hart's friends and entourage talk about the real behind-the-scenes moments and offer insight into the stories he talks about online. "Backstage Pass" features interviews with Hart and behind-the-scenes footage.

There also are also multiple music videos for the title song. One features Erik Sermon, Snoop Dogg and Method Man. The other, dubbed "The Narcissist," is by American Antagon 1st. There is also a music video for "Pop Off' by Doeshun featuring Ray Ray and Ruck.

The high production value of the opening does rob some of the momentum and the levity of the comedy special. However, you can still truly appreciate and respect Kevin Hart's gumption, sense of humor and professionalism.
