"Orange is the New Black" alum Samira Wiley – who now stars in Hulu's dystopian drama "The Handmaid's Tale" – said in a recent interview that she was outed by a fellow "OITNB" cast member, reports Entertainment Weekly.

"I cried a lot," Wiley disclosed on the Oct. 8 edition of the "Nancy" podcast, EW reported. Added the actor, "I tried to get it taken down."

Wiley said that another member of the "Orange is the New Black" cast had been speaking about who in the show's cast was gay. That colleague cited Wiley by name, the actor said. Wiley – who is now out and married to "OITNB" writer Lauren Morelli – went on say that she "had a journey" around the unexpected disclosure.

"More specifically, that's something that somebody took form me. You should be able to come out on your own terms," Wiley related.

In the end, however, "I'm very, very happy it's worked out this way," Wiley said.
