EDGE Interview: Going from Behind the Camera to in Front of it, Jasun Mark Gets his Close-Up on JustFor.Fans

One of the great things about the independent adult content market is that literally anyone can start doing it and, depending on how dedicated one is, the money can start coming in almost immediately. Sex work has become one of the internet's proliferating distractions, and what's more, it's fully customizable. It can be as tame or as extreme as you want it to be. Welcome to the modern age.
But JustFor.Fans model Jasun Mark already knows this. For him, online sex content is just the natural progression from studio to search bar. He is a professional in the industry, and like a lot of talent, he got into making his own content on impulse.
"My path was weird," Mark tells EDGE. "I started in the industry as a production assistant and video editor. On shoots with Fratmen and Jake Cruise and even TitanMen I'd shoot a lot of 'making of' and 'BTS' content. Lots of fun off-camera, and I had a blog where I'd post it. My fan site started out more like that."
"I was the guy with the camera shooting the guys off-set. Interviews and funny stuff that happened between takes," he continued. "And then someone asked if I'd wanna perform with him and I just figured 'Why not?' And turns out people wanted to see it. Go figure."
But let's back up a few years. Mark is the son of two college professors who got him a full scholarship to a university where they were both teaching. That wasn't where he wanted to be, and being under the watchful eyes of both of his parents didn't seem compelling.
"I'd have rather deep-fried my face than stay in that remote Atlantic Canadian town and have my parents for teachers, so I turned that down and went to Humber College, studying music, and then to York University to study film," he says.
That degree would help him... maybe not in the mainstream as much as adult movies. He would eventually become director of production and contractually bound to TitanMen, but that ended and now he does freelance work for many different studios. "I'm just a freelance guy. I like the freedom of it," he says.
And where does Mark fall into the LGBTQ+ acronym? "Gay. Just gay," he says. He chose JustFor.Fans for two reasons, "I find the back end a bit easier to navigate and upload content. Plus, it's run by a friend, so that makes it better."
He says what he really likes about making fan content is that it's him and his buddies having fun and not taking things too seriously. He likes to keep his productions casual and laid back. "It's more like hanging out with friends and then cameras are rolling and we're having fun. I don't like to plan stuff too much."
Still, managing an adult content page requires some business savvy, and this type of medium is about your collaborations with other models, preferably ones who carry their own large fanbase.
Even though his day job allows him to work with a lot of big male adult stars, he never allows those lines to cross. "If it's someone I've worked with or will work with on set, I don't want to perform with them myself. The only exception so far was Jonah Wheeler; he and I were friends anyway so that felt more organic. But there are a lot of Fan-only guys I'd love to work with like Seattle Dad." His page offers subscribers a mix of behind-the-scenes antics and actual content featuring himself.
Although he works in the mainstream adult industry full-time, he enjoys his time off. Jasun loves collecting vinyl records and taking hikes. He adds that he would love to get a motorcycle soon. It became difficult to maintain that hobby once the demands of his job took up a large portion of his time. Furthermore, Mark has a spouse. "My husband and I have been together for nearly 33 years – met when we were in our 20s."
Since he has been in the industry so long, he has seen it change for the better. Not too long ago sites only featured men of a specific race.
"It was always those cringy stereotype sites and the big studios mostly just had white and maybe Latino men," he explains. "If you wanted to see Black or Asian or Middle Eastern men you had to go to the lower-budget independent sites." Sadly, those days included industry awards featuring marginalized categories like "best minority scene."
"Now it's a lot more integrated and diverse," he says. "But of course, it's something we need to keep mindful about. I don't want to go back to those days. We need to have the producers being part of the solution."
As far as his frequency in uploading content, Mark says it fluctuates. Sometimes he is really busy with his day job and scheduling times with his friends for JustFor.Fans can be hard to coordinate. "It's a rough balancing act sometimes," he says.
With over 80 videos already uploaded to his JustFor.Fans page, he's making it work.
For the future, Mark says he is embracing his, "inner and eventually outer bear." Along with that, he is taking care of himself both inside and out.
"I've been hiking a lot more and being a lot more mindful of what I'm eating and all that and the complex where I just bought a house has a pretty good gym so I spend some time there and I'm starting to get back in shape, so I just might become a new body type. We'll see," he says.
